I’m still unpacking from my trip to London but I’ve just received an email from some whisky colleagues at Whyte and Mackay congratulating me for getting this blog and the Twitter account (with some help from others it has to be said) up and running. Now, to welcome the readers, they’ve offered me some tickets to offer you for the cricket showdown at Lords on Monday, July 6 between the Rajasthan Royals and the champions of the 2008 Twenty20 Cup, the Middlesex Panthers. There also seems to be some rumours that it’s going to be Shane Warne’s last appearance at Lords.
Now, it’s going to be quite the glamour day as I hear the co-owner of the Royals, model, businesswoman and actress Shilpa Shetty will be there as will Daniel Radcliffe, Daniel Craig and some people not called Daniel. There will also be some entertainment by Indian Idol singer Rajdeep Chatterjee. I also hear Shilpa’s also thinking of picking two people from the crowd to be Bollywood stars.
The match will be played in aid of the British Asian Trust, a Prince of Wales’ charity and tickets are now on sale through the Lord’s ticket office on 020 7432 1000 or online. I’m told the game is quite a big thing as it’s the match is a true innovation for world cricket being the first IPL team to play a match anywhere outside India.
This sounds like it could be quite a memorable day out, so let’s have some fun with this. The first five people to add comments to this blog – telling us your most memorable experience with a whisky – will get a pair of tickets. The other tickets I’ll offer via Twitter and one pair to someone who fancies Tweeting the match live for the benefit of those who can’t make it.
Now the match starts at 4.30pm so make sure you can get some time off from work or away early, but tickets will be delivered on Monday by registered post, so make sure you’ll be at the address I give you.
So, memorable experiences with whisky, let’s hear them…

my most memorable although possibly not my best moment was attending the after show party for the Trainspotting premier and falling asleep in the mens toilets with a bottle of whisky – whyte & mackay none the less – in my hands.
Dear god, I hope you didn’t spill the whisky! Seriously though, I hope you’ve enjoyed Whyte and Mackay whisky in more relaxed and social settings since then.
