One of the fun things about going online is discovering what’s already there that involves you and Whyte and Mackay whisky. For example, I wasn’t overly surprised to find a three-part video tasting guide I had done for Whyte and Mackay popping up:

However I was more surprised to see this pop up, but it brought back some good memories:

There’s other Whyte and Mackay whisky videos out there as well and if anyone sees any that I’ve missed, feel free to let me know about them. You can find me on YouTube under the catchy name of Master Blender Richard.

There’s also bunches of pictures and again, it’s great to see some of these shots. On Flickr you can find me as Master Blender and I’m sure there will be lots of Whyte and Mackay related pictures going up there soon (at the moment it’s just some of the best pics I spotted elsewhere).

While this sounds like a bit of ego back-patting, the larger point I’m finding is this: it’s great to see people enjoying the whisky and being sociable about it, spreading their thoughts and experiences about it online because at it’s heart that’s what whisky is, it’s for social, it’s for sharing – and enjoying.

  1. Very entertaining! I always show (or explain) the more current version of your three part B&W video above to friends that I’m trying to get into whisky. The one posted at singlemalt.tv: http://tinyurl.com/l93bku

That whole “Hello. How are you?” thing where you keep approaching the whisky to dig deeper into the nose really works. Previously, friends would give up after one whiff. This helps them to realize that it’s ok to react funny the first time, and to go back and try again.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Thanks for the kind words Jeff. As I say to people, there’s a whisky out there for everyone but the trick is giving yourself the time to find one that works for you: it’s a highly personal thing.
