Screen shot 2009-09-15 at 01.59.55For the rest of this week, the team here are going to run a little experiment for fun (at least that’s what they told me). The designers have been creating some logo’s and ideas for business cards and banners for the site and they have a few finalists.

So given that democracy seems to work quite well here, judging by the votes coming in for the whisky poetry – here’s what we’ll do. Over the coming days, we’ll run a logo here, one on Facebook and other ones on other sites (anyone who fancies taking part and hosting one let us know via the comments below) and then at the end have a poll here to pick the winner.

Sound fair enough? OK, here’s the first one…

like to see what else you have up your sleeve… think this is a bit too simplistic (man running for bus) and doesn’t convey, the passion, the whisky or the hatred of ice…

  2. jim says:

I agree with TheScotsdreamer, a good start but this one might be too cartoony/gimmicky without saying much (except for the nose bit).

  3. Craig McGill says:

Meant to say: these fine illustrations were provided by Paul McClusky and his fine team at Material MC.

  4. I agree…not too keen on this one…I have never seen Richard with a floppy tie or without his matching handkerchief. Might as well be in a blue all in one with tartan pants on the outside and a ‘no ice’(roadsign style)logo on his chest!
“Oh no…the bartender has put ice in my dram…who should I call…I know..Super’stition Man”
    Yup..I can see it now!

  5. @TheScotsdreamer says:

just seen the second image on The Drum almost poirotesque. getting the idea of the nose but it isn’t Richards nose…

And it’s missing the moustache ;o) looking forward to the next version

  6. Where is the relevance to whisky? And I don’t get the buildings (would be better if they were distillery turrets).

Use an avatar by all means but how about keeping to the current theme – if I think of Richard I see him nosing a glass.

Also avatar isn’t quite right looks more like Hercule Poirot than Richard

    Everyones a critic:-)

    Good start though

    Gordon

  7. Daron says:

Number one definitely although I think it could be improved a bit.

  8. Patrick says:

it is funny, but I find them too childish. Amongst the three, the second one was the best one.
Personally, I prefer the current (old one) with W&M lions on their red background.

See you on Saturday in Paris :-)
