Given the recent wins for the Whyte & Mackay 30 year old and 40 year old, you would have to think they were in with a chance if there was an Oscar for whiskies, but for the upcoming Oscars, our US team decided to send out some Dalmore goody bags to those nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor (well, Dalmore did appear on hit TV show Burn Notice recently…)

The pack included The Dalmore 1263 King Alexander III along with The Partagas Master Series Majestuoso Cigars and hundreds of dollars of men’s skincare products from Mario Badescu.

As I told RadarOnline, there’s a set way to enjoy this:

Take the liquid and hold it up to your nose when it is full strength. Don’t be afraid to nose it more than once – you will find that each time your nose it, you discover more aromas and nuances.  Get to know the liquid.

Now pour some room temperature water into your glass to take the alcohol level down a bit. This will allow you to sip it without the burn associated with pure spirits.

Take a sip, swirl, hold the liquid on top of your tongue, under your tongue, hold your breath. Now swallow! Now breathe.

Remember to focus on the whisky and enjoy the art of the blend.

And good luck to the nominees on Sunday night!

  1. How about sending one the way of someone who doesn’t earn millions a year?
