As I mentioned on Twitter yesterday, I was at a whisky tasting in Wetherspoons last night – at The Counting House, just next to George Square in Glasgow to help celebrate the Wetherspoon Whisky Festival.
It was great to get back amongst a Glasgow crowd to talk about whisky, share some expressions and even let people have a chance at making their own blends. But I have to share the praise. Manager Rhona Thompson and her staff did us proud by bringing in a great crowd of whisky lovers – and I’m sure Rachel (I’ve forgotten her second name) won’t forget the night as she got the chance to taste the Dalmore 62 year old for making the best blend on the night.
As I say, a cracking night that I’ll need to have again soon and if you’re passing by The Counting House or a Wetherspoon’s over the next few days why not pop in enjoy part of the Whisky Festival – it runs until March 14. Just remember, one second in the mouth for every year of the whisky’s age and no ice! You never know when a master blender might pop in. Use it as an excuse to try a new whisky or get reacquainted with an old one.
