I’m here in the US for the 11th Annual Whiskies of the World Expo & Artisanal Spirits Fest taking place on Saturday March 27 at The Hotel Nikko, 222 Mason St and I’m sure I’ll be meeting plenty of you there. I’m looking forward to it.
But if you haven’t grabbed a ticket yet, here’s a little discount code that’s been passed on to me for Whyte & Mackay (and Dalmore and Jura) fans who might want to go along:

The Whiskies of the World Expo gathers the world’s most fascinating distilled spirits along with their makers and ambassadors to give its guests an opportunity to sample, learn and experience a night of delicious spirited fun. After 10 years in San Francisco, the Expo is adding new and exciting details to the evening and making sure this is the event of the year! Come to enjoy a full buffet dinner; meeting and learning from the world’s spirits producers; creators and experts; a live Pipe and Drum Concert; mixology demonstrations, Celtic craft and whisky gear booths, artisanal food pairings with exclusive whiskies; live music and more. The site blog has some nice blog entries as well, with people talking about whisky first times and the influence whisky – and for some, even whiskey – has had on their lives.

This is the email I sent to the Whyte & Mackay site earlier today.
Greetings from Canada,
A few years ago at a “Whiskey Tasting” in Toronto, my husband and my daughter met Richard Paterson, thereby being introduced to Jura whiskey. Our daughter has worked for the LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) for nearly 11 years, and had received passes to attend this function. Anyway, they had a lovely chat with Richard, and my husband said we were thinking of going to Scotland for a “Scotch-Tasting” trip. He immediately gave them his business card, saying to get in touch with him, and he would arrange a tour. Unfortunately we seem to have misplaced Richard’s business card.
That trip is now happening in July & August. We will be in Scotland from July 22 — August 12. I, who had always vowed never to drink Scotch, became a convert when I had a sip of Jura’s Superstition, and am convinced we must visit Jura.
If you would be so kind as to pass this information on to Richard, or connect us with him, it would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Margaret (and Walter) Friesen
PS: As a point of reference, my husband and daughter Jennifer, both red hair — my husband with a white beard, and daughter has long red hair. I realize he meets many people, but that might tweak his memory.
