Richard Paterson

You may enjoy Richard Paterson on his whisky blog, you may find his whisky tweets entertaining and follow him on Facebook as well as enjoying the whiskies he helps produce – and now here’s something for the whisky fan who has a car: whisky master blender Richard Paterson’s distinctly Scottish voice as a free download for the TomTom Sat Nav devices.

It’s a bit of fun, but there’s also a serious message behind this: don’t drink and drive. From time to time you’ll hear a message from Richard reminding you of that. Whisky and driving is one cocktail that should never be tried.

To download, click this link, unstuff/decompress the file, then follow the following instructions:

  1. Connect your TomTom to your computer via the USB Cable and switch it on.
  2. Find your TomTom device on your desktop and open it up by double clicking.
  3. Find the Voices folder.
  4. Copy the three parts of the voice (data99.chk, data99.vif, data99.bmp) to the Voices folder.
  5. Turn the TomTom off, disconnect it and then restart it.
  6. Cycle through the voices and Richard should be there.

If you need further help, the TomTom Forums should be able to help.

Disclaimer: Neither Richard Paterson nor Whyte and Mackay accept any liability for any inaccuracy, loss, or injury caused by using either the TomTom voice or TomTom devices. Downloading, installing and using this voice is done at the user’s choice and they accept full responsibility for any consequences of using the voice.

Can you post a few samples of this?

  3. Armin, I’ll see if the IT types can do that, but I’m told it’s a small download – less than 1MB – for those wanting to try it.

  4. I think Armin (and the rest of us) who may not have TomToms want to know what it sounds like…I know I would!

  5. Great! Richard in my car! ;-)

I LOVEE TO HAVE A BOTTLE OF THAT MYSELF HOW ABOUT IT?
